Is colon hydrotherapy safe?
Yes. The equipment used at Oasis Natural Health is FDA-registered. Does it hurt to have a colon hydrotherapy session?
While you will feel pressure in the rectum for about 30 seconds or less during the insertion process, there is no pain.
Saying that, every body experiences physical sensations differently. Which is why you can have the assurance that Stephanie will gently and patiently make sure you have the best possible experience during your colon hydrotherapy session. She treats each person as a unique, precious person.
Can I keep my appointment if I get my menstrual period?
Yes. Your body is already in a cleansing state when you have your period so it’s actually a good time to receive a colon hydrotherapy session. Your flow will not interfere with the success of the session. The only consideration is that you have a tampon in during the session.
Can I be constipated even if I have 1, 2, 3 or more bowel movements a day? Or diarrhea?
YES! This sounds so backwards doesn’t it?! Yet, it’s true. What happens is that accumulated fecal matter, mucous, and gas in the colon may compromise or prevent the natural peristalsis action that results in incomplete though frequent bowel movements. This too fast transit time can cause a wide range of problems in the digestive tract and throughout the entire body.
Is it embarrassing or stinky?
It’s understandable that you might feel a little awkward at first because you really don’t know what to expect; however, based on my experience, you will very quickly relax into the session. Once you experience Stephanie’s bedside manner whatever trepidations you might have had initially most likely will be gone by the end of your session.
Because Oasis Natural Health uses a “closed system” which provides the highest quality hygiene available along with medical grade, one time use, disposable tubing, most colonic sessions do not smell. And on the very rare occasion that someone does leak a little there are absorbency pads underneath and a large sheet covering the person the entire session. Please, do not worry for one minute if you might be that rare person that experiences this scenario. It does not faze Stephanie in the slightest.
Is colon hydrotherapy habit forming?
No. There are no chemicals used. The effect of colon hydrotherapy is not only to remove the accumulated old hardened waste, mucus, parasites, and gas but the warm temperature controlled session is also retraining the colon (which is a muscle) to have better peristalsis. Which translates to better and more regular bowel movements.
Do I need to have a doctor’s approval to have a colon hydrotherapy session?
If you have any serious concerns about your health than it would be wise to consult with a doctor. Otherwise, come on in!
What if I’m not feeling well the day of my appointment?
Having a colon hydrotherapy session when you are not feeling well is one of the most effective things you can do to speed up your recovery. Frequently symptoms of “illness” are often a sign that the body is overwhelmed with toxicity, which has not been able to exit the body through the usual channels of elimination. It’s called autointoxication.
This is also an opportune time to use the sauna, which will expedite your recovery as well.
How many colon hydrotherapy sessions do I need and how often?
There is not a set in stone answer to this question as the number of sessions varies with each individual and his/her condition. The average person is walking around with 8-12 pounds of old fecal matter. This old hardened putrefied waste gets deeply lodged in the colon over a long period of time. So it may take a series of sessions to sufficiently soften and loosen it before it can exit the body. Depending on the individual a recommended series of 3, 5, or 10 could be advised. When the colon is cleaned and better peristalsis is regularly occurring, a maintenance program of once a month or minimally seasonally (4 times a year) could be beneficial.
Can I have a colon hydrotherapy session if I am pregnant?
The world of most colon hydrotherapists would say yes, but only in your second trimester and only if you have previously and regularly done colon hydrotherapy. True, colon hydrotherapy is very safe. Also true, pregnancy has it’s own set of guidelines. I am a very conservative therapist and if the research is putting such strict guidelines on the other two trimesters…I’m not advising it. Period.
Will I be able to go back to my normal activities directly after a colon hydrotherapy session?
Yes. You’ll most likely feel lighter with a sense of rejuvenation.
When and What and do I eat before my colon hydrotherapy session?
Please come in on an empty stomach. It’s best to have not eaten anything for 2-3 hours before your session. Stay well hydrated beforehand, but avoid liquids 1-2 hours before your appointment to avoid a full bladder during your session.
It’s also best 1-2 days before your appointment to avoid breads, pastas, dairy, beans, fried food, animal foods, carbonated beverages and alcohol. That’s the ideal; however, just do your best.
What do I eat after a colon hydrotherapy session?
I would recommend waiting an hour after your session to eat. I’d stick with lighter foods such as warm soups or broth or fruits and veggies.
Will I loose weight from having colon hydrotherapy sessions?
The average person is walking around with 8 to 12 pounds of waste. You most likely will lose weight in waste and toxins.
How do I best prepare for a colon hydrotherapy session?
The most important thing you can do is come in on an empty stomach. Try very hard not to eat for 2-3 hours before your appointment. Reducing your liquid intake 1-2 hours before your session is also important and will ensure that your bladder is not full during your session.

Will the colon hydrotherapy session wash out the friendly, probiotic bacteria?
No, this is a common misconception. The friendly, good bacteria can breed a lot better in a clean environment. Cleansing the intestine of putrefied waste and gas will create an environment for healthy bacteria to multiply and thrive. It is estimated that it takes about 36 hours or less to restore and repopulate normal bacteria populations. Furthermore, once the colon walls have been cleaned and the lining of the walls have been well hydrated, nutrients will be absorbed better and faster.
